TMBP Drone Guidelines

Capturing the Stoke: TMBP Drone Guidelines
At Timberland Mountain Bike Park (TMBP), we love seeing our community capture and share their best trail moments. To keep the vibes high, the trails safe, and our neighbors’ privacy respected, we’ve established these simple guidelines for flying Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) within the park.
1. The Launch Pad Check-in
Before you take off, please give a quick "hello" to our Park Patrol at the Launch Pad. This verbal check-in ensures our team is aware of active drones on the trails for everyone’s safety. No check-in, no flight.
2. Know Your "Drone Zones"
To protect the flow of the trails and the security of our neighbors, drone flight is restricted to specific areas:
Permitted Drone Zones:
- Launch Pad
- Skills Zone
- Enter The Dragon
- Kung Fu Panda
- Top Gun
No-Drone Zones (Save the tree hugs for the riders!): Because of tight trails and thick canopy, drones are strictly prohibited on:
- Parabellum
- Matrix
- Point Break
Security Buffer: Flying drones outside park premises or over the resort and residential areas is strictly prohibited.
3. Equipment Guidelines
We prioritize the safety of our riders. Recreational drone use is limited to "Micro" drones weighing under 250g.
- Permitted Models: DJI Mini Series, HoverAir X1, Autel Nano, etc.
-
Large Drones: Any drone exceeding 250g or intended for commercial/professional media requires prior written authorization from TMBP management.
4. Trail Etiquette and Safety
- No Sessioning: We know you want that perfect clip, but doubling back or repeating trail sections is strictly prohibited. Let’s keep the flow smooth for everyone behind you! We have dedicated session lines - please ask our Park Patrol
- Yield to Riders: Drones are "guests" on the trail. Always yield to riders and move to a safe hover or clear the airspace if someone is approaching.
- No Technical Hovers: Please avoid hovering directly over jumps, drops, or rock gardens while other riders are active on the trail.
-
Liability: Park management and Switchbacks Inc. assume no liability for drone damage or "tree-hugs." Operators are 100% responsible for their gear and any accidental incidents.
Accountability and The "Grounding" Rule
TMBP is built on mutual respect. To protect the experience for the whole community, we operate a simple accountability policy:
- Trail Violations: Failure to check in with Patrol, "sessioning" trails, or flying in No-Drone Zones will result in being grounded for the remainder of the day (drones must be packed away).
-
Security Breaches: Flying over the resort or outside park boundaries is a major security concern and will result in the immediate revocation of your Park Pass.
